Why HubNex exists
A practical problem, and a practical approach.
1 Why we are building HubNex
Hospitals do not always have the radiology expertise and reporting capacity they need where and when they need it. Workloads peak, a study may call for a subspecialist, and coordinating help between hospitals is still often manual: calls, repeated data entry and switching between systems.
HubNex is being built so hospitals can draw on the expertise and capacity available within their own collaboration network, using the radiology systems they already have.
2 What we are building
HubNex matches imaging studies with radiologists based on availability and specialisation, and returns the report through the agreed workflow. It integrates with existing PACS and RIS so radiologists keep working with familiar tools. Our aim is faster reporting and better use of the resources hospitals already have.
HubNex is currently in a pilot phase. We describe what works today separately from what is planned, and we publish results only when we can show how they were measured.
3 How we work
- Hospitals decide: hospitals agree who participates and on what terms. HubNex coordinates routing, tracking and audit.
- Evidence over claims: we do not publish compatibility, security or performance claims we cannot back up.
- Data minimisation: only what is needed to route a study and return a report.
